Summary:

Provides leadership, direction and coordination of all clinical and occupational health activities for Health Management Services for all Grifols US entities. Works with senior management in the direction of all Health Management Services activities to ensure accomplishment of HMS goals and objectives. Ensures quality and cost-efficient care is provided to all worker populations at Grifols. Practices within the parameters of professional licensure to ensure consistency with legal, labor, regulatory and corporate requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and manages onsite clinic operations at Clayton, NC and Los Angeles, CA clinic sites; provides clinical oversight to Health Management staff, including hiring, terminations, assigning work, managing activities, conducting performance assessments, etc.

  • Manage departmental budget to include forecasting, projection and daily monitoring of expenditures. Will work closely with director to ensure that expenditures are reported, evaluated and /or adjusted in a cost effective manner.

  • Interpret and implement all standard practices and policies within Health Management Services in compliance with all regulatory parties including OSHA, FMLA, HIPAA, ADA, ODLs, CLIA and workers compensation law for the multiple states in which Grifols has facilities.

  • Collaborates with senior management, Safety, Legal, Human Resources, Risk Management and other key stakeholders to carry out goals and objectives of the organization and the department; leads initiatives to embrace greater communication and collaboration between Health Management Services and key stakeholders.

  • Obtains RN state licenses for states with Grifols employees. Oversees compliance with all HMS nurses licenses through SOPs to ensure current state licenses. Provide NP Treatment and episodic care clinic as applicable.

  • Acts as a professional resource to company management in planning and maintaining initiatives and programs in support of overall health and wellness strategy and philosophy; assesses clinic operations and activities and makes recommendations for process improvements.

  • Provides initial assessment of occupational injuries, illnesses and exposures and may treat or refer for further evaluation as necessary in accordance with clinical guidelines and protocols. Plans and develops HM SOPs and policies.

  • Assesses non-occupational illnesses occurring at work; determines the immediacy of treatment, and gives guidance to seek care from emergency/personal health care providers.

  • Oversees return to work activities involving work restrictions, modified scheduling and medical accommodations; ensuring compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act and other applicable laws and regulations

  • May perform biometric screenings in support of health and wellness activities; may provide on-site delivery of pharmacy services as appropriate; provides guidance and support to employees and educates employees about health management and disease management programs available through health care providers

  • Coordinates nursing process to generate consistent documentation of treatment, interactive process and administrative aspects

  • Partners with worker's compensation program adminstrator and workers Comp insurance for the organization; analyzes data and adverse trends; collaborates with appropriate parties in recommendations.

  • Provide oversight for the Grifols substance abuse policy. Responsible for assisting management with changes to policy. Maintain on call status for after hours reasonable suspicion calls and assigns shared call within department .

  • Provides health-related counseling for supervisors and employees within the scope of nursing knowledge and practice

  • Maintains and safeguards privacy and confidentiality of business and personal information

  • Provides consistent and timely reporting of Health Management Services activities, metrics and performance

  • Provides oversight for the Grifols substance abuse policy. Responsible for review of federal, state and local regulations as they pertain to drug testing. Responsible for assisting upper and executive management with changes to policy.

  • Manages occupational health management information system to track and monitor activities

  • Assumes responsibility for professional development and continuing education of self and staff to ensure competency and performance consistent with professional Occupational Health Nursing Standards

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of professional medical practices related to treatment of work-related illness and injuries.

  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe medical environment.

  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, Health Management staff, and workers.

  • Comprehensive knowledge and application of business concepts, procedures and practices.

  • Extensive knowledge of rules and regulations governing functions including, but not limited to, OSHA, FMLA, HIPAA, ADAA, CLIA, etc.

  • Knoweldge of employment laws.

  • Uses in-depth knowledge of business unit functions and cross group dependencies/ relationships.

  • Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.

  • Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

  • Has broad knowledge of various technical alternatives and their potential impact on the business.

  • Ability to work across departments and with various levels.

  • Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.

  • Ability to manage staff remotely.

Education and Experience Requirements based on level:

Manager, Nurse Practitioner

Education:

Master's degree and graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program. Current state Nurse Practitioner license. Current state RN license.

Experience:

Requires a minimum of 3 years of clincal related experience in an emergency or occupational health setting as an nurse practitioner. A minimum of 2 years of supervisory or management experience required. Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements.

Sr. Manager, Nurse Practitioner

Education:

Bachelor's degree and graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program. Current state Nurse Practitioner license.

Experience:

Requires a minimum of 8 years of clincal related experience in an emergency or occupational health setting. A minimum of 5 years of supervisory or management experience required. Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements.

The level of position offered will be dependent on the length and relevance of the candidate's education, skills, and work history skills developed through their professional experiences.

Occupational Demands: Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 6-8 hours per day. Frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Occasionally walks. Occasionally bends and twists neck. Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 25lbs. Frequently drives to site locations with occasional travel within the United States. Able to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Works independently with little guidance or reliance on oral or written instructions and plans work schedules to meet goals. Frequently interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups. Must work with diverse groups to obtain consensus on issues. Ability to apply abstract principles to solve complex conceptual issues.
