Summary:

The Industrial Safety and Security Manager is responsible for the protection of assets, employees, contractors, and visitors to the Clayton, RTP, and Montreal facilities by assuring physical security of the facilities. This position is responsible for managing the activities of security officers, developing and implementing security philosophies and procedures, assuring robust operation of card access control and video monitoring systems, and coordinating activities of the Clayton site emergency response teams.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manages the daily activities of the contract security workforce to ensure that employees and site visitors are promptly greeted, have proper credentials and are placed into contact with their host(s)

  • Responsible for continuous and proper operation of card access systems, CCTV systems and key systems at multiple locations

  • Primary local Grifols representative to interact with regulatory agencies for security, emergency pre-planning, investigations, and security of shipped product

  • Responsible for coordinating with Engineering to incorporate security principles and design in new and remodeled facilities. Assist in developing and verifying emergency egress maps, posting maps, emergency signage, etc.

  • Develop and maintain Site security strategy plans, policies, standards, and operation procedures manual

  • Is the lead on all RFP's for security services

  • Maintain, track, coordinate, and update all loss prevention recommendations from property insurance supplier

  • Assess traffic flows to assure adequate access for emergency vehicles and establishing Clayton site parking strategy

  • Responsible for establishing training programs and support of the Clayton Emergency Response Teams (Chemical spill/incipient fire and medical)

  • Collaborate with engineering and provide recommendations and guidance on all new fire protection and fire alarm designs

  • Inspect, test, maintain, and repair all fire system components including portable fire extinguishers, industrial fire suppression systems, and fire alarm systems.

  • Responsible for proper functioning of site radio system to support security, emergency response activities, and all other radio communications of the Clayton site

  • Conduct site vulnerability assessments and determine risks and mitigation requirements

  • Inspect, test, maintain, and repair all eyewash and safety shower systems

  • Manage the installation and repair of data cabling, ethernet, networking ports, analog phones, and audio-visual equipment

  • Act as the incident commander during crisis management events and provide leadership to the crisis management team

  • Provide dignitary and executive protection support as required

Collaborate with other members of the Grifols Industrial Safety and Security Team on implementing policies and procedures from a global standpoint.

  • Ensure alignment & compliance with applicable corporate and regulatory agencies

  • Responsible for development and maintenance of relationships with wide range of external Grifols entities including local agencies focused on law enforcement and fire protection, and private sector security managers

  • Planning & execution of inspections, preventive maintenance and system impairments

  • Collection of criminal and critical intelligence and dissemination to business functions as required to drive mitigation planning

  • Minimization of risk to employees or the local community related to health or security risks that may be present or develop as the result of operations conducted or controlled by personnel or on company property.

  • Other duties as assigned by senior management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Incumbent must possess strong analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • The Manager-Security & Emergency Services will be a technically competent professional who provides subject matter expertise and direction to oversee one or more of the following comprehensive, company-wide security and emergency response programs.

Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Engineering, or a related curriculum.

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience, including experience managing a staff.

  • Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements. Example: If a job level requires a Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of experience, an equivalency could include 8 years of experience, an Associate’s degree with 6 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 2 years of experience.

Occupational Demands:

Work is performed in an office and a laboratory/clinical environment. Exposure to Biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms. Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear and gloves. Exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 4-6 hours per day. Frequent movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Color perception/discrimination required. Occasionally walks. Often performs duties standing. Occasionally bends and twists neck and waist. Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 35lbs. Frequently drives to other facilities. Able to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Works with little need for guidance or reliance on oral or written instructions from management and plans work schedules to meet goals. Performs a wide range of tasks with little predictability of occurrence. Frequently interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups. Must work with diverse groups to obtain consensus on issues.
