The R&D Technical Support Engineer will be responsible, from an instrumentation perspective, for the quality and maintenance of both instrumentation and prototypes for IVD tests automation in accordance with defined operating procedures and applicable regulations to ensure optimal technical performance.

What your responsibilities will be

  • Service and maintain instrument prototypes and subsequent evaluation and commercial version in collaboration with the manufacturer.

  • Coordinate and execute technical evaluations and testing of new instruments for IVD test automation.

  • Execute and monitor evaluations and tests and analyze the results.

  • Support the reagent development team in the use of the instruments employed in testing, managing anomalies, studying issues, and implementing corrections and improvements when possible.

  • Gather information on instrument performance during testing to provide feedback to the development team on successful aspects and areas for improvement.

  • Collect data on the performance of existing laboratory instrumentation, identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities for improvement, and necessary evolution.

  • Provide input based on collected information to be considered in new developments.

  • Receive technical and user training on the instruments used in the laboratory.

  • Support the reagent development team in the instruments use.

  • Investigate instrument anomalies and incidents.

  • Resolve these anomalies and incidents when possible or ensure the manufacturer addresses them when necessary.

  • Study potential adaptations and improvements to instruments to support reagent development workflows and optimize them where possible.

  • Implement these adaptations and improvements when feasible or ensure the manufacturer does so when necessary.

Who you are

  • You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field.

  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in instrumentation and technical support.

  • Strong technical understanding of repair, maintenance, and process optimization of instruments for medical devices.

  • Knowledge of automation and testing processes for IVD instruments is highly valued.

  • Experience working with international partners is highly valued.

  • You possess advanced written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English.

  • You have a strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

  • You are available to travel occasionally.
