Position Overview:

As a Data Engineer, you will have the unique opportunity to contribute to both BigQuery projects and broader data engineering initiatives. You will design, build, and maintain data pipelines, databases, and solutions, transforming raw data for advanced analysis and predictions. Your expertise in BigQuery, SQL, and Python will play a pivotal role in unlocking the potential of large-scale data sets. You will collaborate with data scientists, analysts, software engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure the efficient flow of data and the delivery of high-quality insights for data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and build data pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into Google BigQuery and/or data warehouses, implementing efficient and scalable data processing solutions using SQL and Python, and ensuring data integrity, scalability, and performance.

  • Collaborate with different teams to integrate data from various systems, ensuring data consistency across the organization, and implementing data synchronization strategies to keep data up-to-date.

  • Work with data warehousing technologies and frameworks to store and manage large-scale datasets effectively.

  • Transform and cleanse raw data to ensure data quality and consistency, integrating data from multiple sources to provide a unified view for analysis.

  • Design and implement data models and schemas in BigQuery to support analytical and reporting requirements, developing and maintaining logical and physical data models.

  • Monitor BigQuery performance and troubleshoot any data ingestion, processing, or query execution issues, implementing proactive measures to detect and address potential bottlenecks.

  • Write complex SQL queries to perform data analysis and generate insights.

  • Analyze and optimize SQL queries for efficient execution and reduced processing time, employing best practices.

  • Develop automation scripts and workflows using Python to streamline data processing and integration tasks.

  • Monitor data pipelines and databases for issues and bottlenecks, troubleshooting and resolving data-related problems promptly.

  • Maintain detailed documentation of data pipelines, data models, and processes, providing documentation for stakeholders and team members to ensure knowledge sharing.

  • Ensure data security and compliance with relevant data governance and privacy regulations, implementing access controls, encryption, and auditing mechanisms.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, data analysts, software engineers, and business stakeholders, gathering requirements and delivering solutions that meet their needs, effectively presenting data-related insights and findings.

  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and tools related to data engineering, Google BigQuery , SQL, and Python, evaluating and recommending appropriate technologies to enhance data processing capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.

  • Around 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer or BigQuery Engineer with hands-on experience designing and developing data pipelines.

  • Proficient in SQL and query optimization techniques for large-scale data sets.

  • Proficient in Phyton.

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure.

  • Strong knowledge of cloud-based data storage and processing technologies, with a focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services.

  • Experience with data modeling and database design principles.

  • Familiarity with data integration techniques and tools.

  • Understanding of data security and compliance best practices.

  • Proven experience as a Power BI Developer or similar (Tableau, Looker Studio) with a strong portfolio of Power BI reports and dashboards.

  • Strong expertise in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and M (Power Query) languages.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
