Position Overview:

As the owner of Logistics, this position will create and implement a strategy to manage and improve the performance of transportation, customs and warehousing for Grifols Americas Diagnostic Supply Chain.

This position will operate within a matrix organization, sharing accountability with regional supply chain partners for overall performance to customers and cost. While the position has direct responsibility for driving performance trends from the logistics function, it works with key partners within the regional supply chain ecosystem to ensure daily operations meet customer needs. Key functions you will leverage to drive logistics excellence include Grifols 3PL partners, Customer Service, Planning, and Global Logistics.

Internal customers include Grifols commercials sales organization and Grifols field service technicians. External customers include hospitals, blood banks, and labs that rely on Grifols products to provide patient care.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Manage overall performance of global third-party logistics, warehouse, and packaging vendors for the Americas Diagnostic Supply Chain.

  • Cultivate a culture of measurement and data-driven decision making.

  • Work with daily users (i.e. customer service) and customers to understand and manage daily performance while maintaining visibility to overall performance.

  • Create and manage a common set of performance metrics to accurately depict performance on cost, service and improvement initiatives.

  • Maintain visibility to senior management on costing models

  • Develop regional freight and warehouse budgets

  • Work with 3PLs and Supply Chain Director to develop consistent vendor interactions to manage the business relationship.

  • Develop and lead processes and programs to identify improvement opportunities, prioritize, and drive initiatives to obtain value

  • Ensure vendor’s adherence to Grifols SOPs and Quality Standards.

Leverage Global Logistics and procurement structure to manage vendor selection, contract development and monitoring activities

  • Lead regional logistics vendor selection, working with required local and global functions to contract and negotiate logistics services.

  • Drive global harmonization of contracts, while maintaining appropriate distinctions to local markets and business needs.

Lead identification and implementation of logistics performance improvements for Americas Diagnostic Supply Chain

  • Monitor, identify and drive Freight, Customs and Warehouse (FCW) savings

  • Conceive and lead improved activities. Partner with 3PLs and regional customer service and planning functions to implement initiatives as needed

  • Lead FCW budgeting process

  • Manage carrier payment process; load rates, contracts, freight audit

Drive a culture of customer centricity. Focus on achieving internal-customer and end-customer needs, while continuously improving the value proposition of the supply chain function.

  • Establish and maintain a clear connection between all functional activities and customer needs.

  • Maintain communication with key stakeholders (regional supply chain, commercial heads, service technician team and senior management) and customers to understand the implication of their requirements for supply chain operations

  • Develop a culture that enables associates to bring innovation and collaboration to designing and implementing continuous improvements.

  • Ensure the highest level of customer service is provided to both internal and external customers.

  • Consistently deliver products in a timely, cost effective manner and in compliance with company policies regarding product quality and adherence to compliance requirements.

Actively participate as a matrix leader within the Regional Supply Chain function

  • Work within regional supply chain team to support local projects which may sometimes require participation in scope beyond direct functional boundaries

  • Participate actively as a member of supply chain team, providing inputs and relevant expertise to solve global issues

  • BS Degree in Business or equivalent experience in Supply Chain / Customer Service; Masters in Logistics or MBA desired

  • Up to and estimated 15% travel will be required.

Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 6-8 hours per day. Frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Occasionally walks. Occasionally bends and twists neck. Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 25lbs. Frequently drives to site locations with occasional travel within the United States. Able to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Works independently with little guidance or reliance on oral or written instructions and plans work schedules to meet goals. Frequently interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups. Must work with diverse groups to obtain consensus on issues. Ability to apply abstract principles to solve complex conceptual issues.
