Summery
The Analytical Scientist will work as part of an exciting Manufacturing Sciences & Technology team. The main responsibility of the Scientist is to work with Senior and Junior level associates to develop robust Analytical assays in support of developing and optimizing recombinant protein production processes including process parameter optimization. This role is reporting to the Analytical Manager MS&T. Hands on experience performing various routine analytical testing, doing assay qualifications, assay transfers and assay development for internal and external customers is a required to be able to fulfill this role. The role will be supporting upstream and downstream and also conducts routine testing.

Your primary responsibilities:
You perform various routine analytical testing, assay qualifications, assay transfers and assay development
You learn new techniques, work with Senior and Junior level associates to solve problems, prepare technical reports; and evaluate and implement new instrumentation or process techniques
You execute laboratory-based studies, analyze, and interpret results, participate in process improvement, development, and qualification activities
You execute complex scientific protocols in a highly coordinated team environment from preparation, testing, and data analysis
You author procedures/protocols or technical reports that include data interpretation
You prepare and effectively communicates technical results in cross-functional settings
You ensure your experimental and testing work is performed exactly as defined in the approved study protocols or SOPs/guidelines
Maintains laboratory facilities and assure that they are in a clean and organized manner
You coordinate vendor visits for onsite service, work with instrumentation group for other calibration events
You troubleshoot, repair, clean and operate equipment as needed and improve laboratory practices to increase throughput and decrease errors

About you:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Technical understanding and experience of analytical techniques such as SDS-PAGE, HPLC, Amino Acid Analysis, ELISA's and in vitro diagnostic test kits, Lowry, Bradford, Western Blotting, Mass Spectrometry, Dynamic Light Scattering, and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC).
Demonstrate an understanding of above techniques and able to troubleshoot methods and recognize anomalous data
Understanding of basic statistical data analysis and a willingness to explore advanced statistical modelling tools.
Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and effective interpersonal and communication skills are required.
Capable of representing the functional area on a cross-functional team and presenting technical data at team meetings.
Must have good planning and organizing skills, manage time effectively by prioritizing tasks, taking the initiative to solve problems quickly, and knowing when to obtain assistance.
Proficient with the use of MS Office software (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Powerpoint) and application software (not limited to) including Unicorn, JMP, Minitab, Design Expert etc).
A flexible schedule with the ability to do some shift work and availability on weekends.
Education:
Ideally a PhD degree in biochemistry, biochemical engineering, biology, chemistry, microbiology, or other relevant life science field
0-2+ years of work experience with a PhD, MS 4+ years’, BS 6+ years’ experience
Equivalency
Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements. Example: If a job level requires a Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of experience, an equivalency could include 8 years of experience, an Associate’s degree with 6 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 2 years of experience.
Occupational Demands:
May occasionally lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise manipulate objects up to 25 pounds in weight, and/or lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise manipulate objects up to 10 pounds in weight frequently or continuously.
Pay Scale:
Pay scale of $113,200-169,700/year, depending on training, education, and experience. This position is eligible to participate in up to 8% of the company bonus pool.
