Summary:

The successful candidate will work as part of an exciting Research and Development team to drive the purification and analytical characterization of recombinant proteins and antibodies. This role will require working primarily in a laboratory setting while taking ownership of projects that support Grifols’ long history of diagnostic and therapeutic products.

Primary Responsibilities for Role:

  • Develop and execute innovative, lab-scale downstream processing workflows for recombinant proteins and antibodies

  • Lead the characterization of proteins to elucidate functional, quality, and structural information

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert to independently design and perform complex experiments, analyze data, and professionally communicate results to key stakeholders and management

  • Make strategic decisions that drive product development efforts from Proof of Concept through Feasibility

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Expert in recombinant protein purification using affinity, IEX, multi-modal, and SEC chromatography methods and FPLC (i.e., AKTA) instrumentation

  • Skilled with protein characterization technologies (e.g., BLI, DSF, ELISA, HPLC, light scattering, mass spectrometry, SPR, Western Blot)

  • Experienced with protein formulation to resolve protein stability challenges

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency and experience in protein design and in silico modelling would be highly valued

Education:

The ideal qualified candidate should have a PhD degree in biochemistry, biochemical engineering, biology, chemistry, microbiology, or other relevant life science field. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply regardless of ideal requirements and will be considered.

Experience:

Minimum six years laboratory experience post PhD
