This is a remote position, Candidate must be based in the Central or East Coast.

Summary:

The Epidemiology Specialist supports the epidemiology and viral marker reporting function within Biomat USA. The Epidemiology Specialist processes and analyzes data from internal and external plasma suppliers and resolves discrepancies, as required. The Epidemiology Specialist prepares data summaries and assists in the preparation of viral marker assessment memos, reports, and presentations. He/she interacts with personnel from other departments, test laboratories, and external suppliers to resolve technical issues and to identify data trends for further investigation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop proficiency in the interpretation of viral marker data and the creation of viral marker reports

  • Develop an understanding of the Viral Marker reporting process in regards to regulatory and plasma industry quality specifications

  • Perform standard data reduction techniques and assist in the preparation of viral marker assessment memos, reports and presentations as needed

  • Prepare and submit requests for specific data queries from DMS Operations

  • Identify and resolve discrepant and/or missing viral marker data by collaborating with testing laboratories

  • Process confirmatory data received from internal and external testing laboratories

  • Collect and compile viral marker data from internal and external plasma suppliers

  • Create and manage Microsoft Excel spreadsheets for external supplier viral marker data analysis

  • Interface with external suppliers to ensure resolution of discrepancies and the completion of reports

  • Gain proficiency in using different Donor Management systems (DMS/GDS/NexLynk) for data review

  • Effectively communicate with personnel from various departments building productive internal/external working relationships

  • Escalate issues and identify quality related performance data trends to Quality Management

  • Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis and situations of data requires a review of a variety of factors

  • Compile viral marker data for quality audits and inspections at donor centers

  • Provide support for laboratory, manufacturing, and medical studies as needed

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Excel, Office, and PowerPoint)

  • Must have strong analytical and organizational skills and the ability to prioritize personal tasks to meet deadlines

  • Ability to effectively work independently or as part of a team

  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science

  • 2 years of experience in a related scientific field (Biologics, Biotech, or Pharmaceutical)

Occupational Demands:

Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 6-8 hours per day. Frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Occasionally walks. Occasionally bends and twists neck. Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 25lbs. Able to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken and written words and sentences. Performs tasks by following a set of written or oral instructions/procedures.
