Summary:

This position is responsible directing, planning and managing essential operations, maintenance and site services at the Grifols Site. Supports GMP manufacturing operations through maintenance of critical utility systems, HVAC, BAS, and process utilities, as well as all non-GMP related building systems and components. Responsible for the development and provision of reliable and cost effective services required to maintain San Diego site personnel and corporate assets in a safe, clean, productive and compliant state.

Primary Responsible for Role:

  • Champion safety for all aspects of services provided.

  • Ensure that personnel are trained and qualified to perform assigned duties.

  • Manage and evaluate performance for staff in department. Communicate performance expectations, monitor performance in light of these expectations, delegate assignments, provide opportunity for cross training and the development of technical and supervisory skills and counsel on performance problems.

  • Participate in planning and policy formulation by providing information regarding function needs or problem areas, including staffing, hours, job functions to meet the needs of planned projects and production.

  • Planning maintenance activities, assigning tasks, reviewing work ,writing appraisals, and providing technical training. Ensure that corrective and preventative maintenance are performed in an efficient and timely manner.

  • Manage contracts and contractors engaged in support to provide Maintenance and Site Services including systems and component maintenance, health & safety programs, environmental programs, small projects/relocations, and various other services such as security, janitorial, landscaping, etc.

  • Coordinates with Manufacturing, Quality, R&D, Supply Chain functions to ensure operations are compliant with all internal and external quality, regulatory, and customer requirements

  • Responsible for site CMMS system(s) administration and operations, and effective and timely turnaround/closure of user requests and interval system/component inspections and maintenance

  • Development and administration of spare parts program supporting local operations

  • Participates in regulatory inspections and contribute to regulatory filings. Ensures continued regulatory compliance of existing facilities, equipment, and processes.

  • Write and enforce department operating and maintenance procedures to ensure that all safety, regulatory and legal requirements are adhered to. Ensure all Grifols Finance, Legal, Procurement, Quality, Engineering, Health & Safety, Environment policies and procedures are adhered to.

  • Develop, administer, and control Facilities budget including planning, monitoring, forecasting, approving invoices, and accruals for staff, equipment, supplies and services utilized within the department.

  • Act as Project Manager for site, building, office, and utility modifications that support business change.

  • Assist in site real estate and strategic campus and space planning efforts

Education:

  • BA/BS in Management, Engineering, Science or related field

Experience, Knowledge & Skills:

  • 10+ years experience in pharmaceutical/biotech operations, with thorough working knowledge of maintenance, operations, cGMP’s, FDA regulatory guidelines and validation principles.

  • 5+ years previous management/supervisory experience required

  • Experience in the development and management of third party installation and service contracts

  • Understanding of Document Control procedures and systems

  • Strong leadership, organizational planning, and project management skills

  • Must be available to respond to off-hour emergencies
