Position Overview:

The Director, Commercial Data Operations provides team leadership, technical expertise, analysis and operational support to North America Bioscience for Grifols. This position leads team members in support of the commercial organization in the design, development and delivery of critical business information. This team comprises various data-driven functions within the commercial organization; such as data strategy/sourcing, data warehouse operations, data analytics and business intelligence and associated tools. This individual, and team, will be called on to perform routine and ad-hoc analyses to support sales and marketing strategies, and maintain operational processes as applicable to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and productivity of the commercial organization. In addition to individual contributions to the team’s mission and vision, this individual will supervise five (or more) direct reports providing leadership, direction and support. This role within the organization requires an in-depth understanding of sales and marketing tactics, internal and external datasets, and the ability to develop thoughtful analyses and strategic insights in support of the strategies.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

● Lead a team of (5+) individual analysts to research and source all commercial data, and provide sales and marketing analyses via business intelligence insights in support of the NA Biopharma organization

● Oversee data sourcing, acquisition, and efficient data processing via master data management (MDM) solutions to populate the commercial data warehouse and enable downstream reporting

● Accountable for quality control and data remediation of incoming 3rd party data while streamlining the availability of effective commercial data for impactful analyses and decision-making

● Ownership for the commercial data warehouse and all associated functionality and processes to maximize the data infrastructure and ecosystem

● Direct and influence commercial analyses; to include sales force size and structure and all sales alignment changes, targeting effectiveness, marketing ROI, customer-facing as well as internal business reviews

● Understand customer relationship management (CRM) concepts and partner with peer groups in Commercial Excellence to align on data connectivity and usage (eg, Salesforce.com)

● Understand incentive compensation philosophies and provide any prerequisite support consistent with the Grifols NA Biopharma sales performance management programs (eg, sales incentive compensation plans, awards and recognition programs)

● Maintain and enhance existing business intelligence tools (eg, Power BI), constantly assessing and aligning tools/applications with internal customer needs

● Take lead establishing team vision and mission and associated strategic data roadmaps

● Set team and individual goals, establish priorities and manage resources in support of team objectives

● Provide coaching and guidance to direct reports and ensure opportunities for growth and development are identified with action plans associated

● Assist the Vice President, Commercial Excellence as needed with cross-functional and enterprise-wide projects

  • Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience

  • Project or technical leadership experience required

  • Supervisory or management experience required

  • Pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience (preferred) in a role that allowed for demonstrated technical expertise, analytical thinking, problem solving, team leadership, project leadership, and communication skills both written and oral

  • Ability to translate complex business terminology, concepts, and issues in terms understandable to technical and nontechnical management, peers, and resources staff

  • Assist in the overall identification and integration of data sources and apply basic Data Quality Practices (Data Governance, Data Steward, Metadata Management, etc.)

  • Influence the overall commercial data infrastructure, providing innovative and effective commercial data and analytical solutions to internal customers

  • Experience, knowledge and skills with business intelligence tools (Qlikview, QlikSense, Power BI, SAP Business Objects preferred) as well as familiarity with Salesforce.com (CRM) and Xactly Incent (SPM)

  • Strong interpersonal skills to resolve problems in a professional manner, lead teams and project working groups.

  • Ability to influence without authority

  • Proven business intelligence experience in data analysis, report development and/or applications development

Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 6-8 hours per day. Frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Frequently walks. Occasionally bends and twists neck. Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 25lbs. Frequently drives to site locations and frequently travels within the United States. Able to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Frequently interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups. Ability to apply abstract principles to solve complex conceptual issues. Performs a wide range of complex tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions with little predictability as to the occurrence.
