Overview: The Knowledge Services Specialist provides an essential support function through specialized scientific, technical and medical literature research, analyses and associated reports to internal customers such as R&D, Clinical, Pharmacovigilance, Regulatory and Marketing departments.

The Knowledge Services Specialist 2, specifically participates in evaluating external information resources for the company's online and electronic collections. Works with scientists and technical colleagues to develop key word searches and assist with in-depth research assignments. Assists with end user training in to ensure end user access to relevant and reliable information resources and their understanding effective database searching techniques.

Primary Responsibilities:

● Identifies medical information that is aligned to the company purposes in order to feed the Insight portal

● Communicates scientific news through the Insight Portal and customized newsletters for subscribers

● Provides advice and ideas about how to improve the Insight portal and participates in updating the tool

● Researches, analyzes, filters, synthesizes and formats scientific, technical and medical information into actionable knowledge as requested.

● Provides end-user assistance with the retrieval of critical information.

● Develops optimized search strategies within scientific literature databases (i.e. SCOPUS, EMBASE, Medline).

● Provides current awareness services through the use of specialized scientific literature reports (SDIs).

● Assists in the evaluation of new tools and databases for use in the department.

● Administers and maintains department databases and library.

● Assists with in-depth research requests.

Skills/Qualifications/Education Requirements: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. ● Master's of Library Science or Master's of Library and Information Science or related field.

● 5 years of literature research experience in scientific, technical and medical databases.

● Advanced knowledge in technical areas such as biochemistry, biotechnology, chemistry, medicine or engineering.

● Advanced working knowledge of internet-based information systems, platforms, and retrieval systems. Must have Advanced experience with the delivery of knowledge management solutions to individuals and teams in a corporate setting.

● Strong planning, organizational, analytical, problem solving, and project management skills.

● Advanced ability to manage multiple projects and core-work requirements.

● Must have excellent written and oral communication skills; be able to lead by example and to work with people in multiple disciplines.

● Willingness to become involved in and lead day-to-day details of information management.

● Demonstrated ability to work well in a collaborative environment.

Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 6-8 hours per day. Frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Occasionally walks and stands. Occasionally bends and twists neck. Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 25lbs. Frequently drives to site locations with occasional travel within the United States. Able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken and written words and sentences. Interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups. Must work with diverse groups to obtain consensus on issues.
